About Max Spindler
I met Dr. Max Spindler at the Dallas Holocaust Museum in 2018 at the International Holocaust Remembrance Day memorial. He is one of the most interesting, kind, and compassionate people I have ever encountered. He is highly educated, and he loves to share his story with others. He came to my classes shortly after our first meeting, and he shared his story and wisdom with my students in person.
He is going to be joining us on a ZOOM on Friday, April 17th at 4:00 p.m. to speak about life as a hidden child during the holocaust and answer a few questions. I am so honored and excited that he has agreed to visit with my students again. Please take some time to view some of the videos and websites below. Please review the section at the bottom of the page concerning expectations for conduct at the at ZOOM. Also, please take a little time to create your own We Remember sign to bring to the ZOOM and to share on social media. Make sure to use #WeRemember. We will share your reflection and your photo holding your sign on a Padlet and other social media. I will make that link active later. Pictures from his last visit to my classroom can be seen at my other classroom website. Student Expectations for our ZOOM Meeting with Max Spindler
Dr. Spindler is our honored guest at this meeting. There will also be other adults in our meeting - administrators and teachers from our school and some new friends joining us from Tennessee. Mrs. Starr is a very good friend of mine and she will be joining us with some of her students. We will begin our ZOOM at 3:30 p.m. on Friday so that you can get to know her and some of her students - also 6th graders.
During our ZOOM meeting, you will be expected to be sitting and listening quietly as if you were seeing him in person. You will need to keep your mic muted. You may "raise your hand" on the ZOOM when he opens up for questions. I will unmute your mic or let you know it is your turn to ask your question when we are able to do so.
Listen to his story. Think about the situation we are currently living and try to find both similarities and differences. You will find that we have some things in common, but that we are also very blessed.
Be ready to write a reflection following the ZOOM.
I will send the invitation to you later on Class Dojo, Google Classroom, and Remind.
